To celebrate its 40th Anniversary the Civic Society mounted a special exhibition and conference in the Yelde Hall on 27th September 2014.  A star feature was the restored 1842 Merryweather Fire Engine.

The event was opened by the Deputy Mayor, David Powell and featured three illustrated talks, given by Mike Stone and Dr Kay Taylor.

The excellent exhibition charting the history and successes of the Civic Society was assembled in the Yelde Hall for the morning conference and continued on public view for a further three weeks.

Last but not least, was a short history of the Society’s fire engine restoration project to complement the lovingly restored engine which took pride of place in the Hall.
