The first blue heritage plaque was erected in London in the 1860s.   Since then, people in towns and cities all over Britain have sought to commemorate their interesting buildings, and where possible, link them to individuals who were notable either locally or nationally.

Chippenham Civic Society has played its part in highlighting the history of the town and some of the fine buildings that we have in Chippenham.  We commissioned the first twelve blue plaques 1990 and have recently added three new plaques to commemorate people connected with the town. 

Blue Plaque Walk
